1105 Media's Government Information Group provides information, insight and analysis for the Government IT sector, as well as coverage of federal employee news and issues.  Our content platforms include print, digital, online, events and a broad spectrum of marketing services.
 
We are currently searching for an Events Manager to join our Government Information team.   The Events Manager plans and coordinates both custom events for 1105 Media clients and manages select branded events for 1105 Media.  We are looking for a motivated self-starter who is well-organized, passionate about events, deadline driven and professional. This is a highly desirable position for any events manager who wants to learn more about custom or sole-sponsored events and has an interest in client-facing marketing services.
 
Essential Job Functions:

 
  • Lead the planning and implementation of each event by defining project tasks and resource requirements
  • Act as leader on all operational and tactical items for each event as assigned
  • Act as sole point of contact between the client/sponsor and 1105 Media
  • With sales, help define the project scope, goals and deliverables and forecast costs
  • Create schedule and timeline of project tasks
  • Collaborate with events team to determine priority projects
  • Solicit event location information and coordinate logistics with the team
  • Facilitate weekly check-in calls between client, content provider, and 1105 team
  • Hire content development contractors/speaker acquisition professionals where necessary
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders, stepping in when necessary to move project along
  • Formulate event contingency plans
  • Use online project management software to track deliverables and guarantee tasks are completed on deadline
  • Track, reconcile and forecast expenses per event
  • Wrap up and report on performance post-event, using this information to improve future events
  • Work onsite at every to see that it proceeds smoothly and ensuring client/sponsor satisfaction
  • Develop expertise in government technology market
 

Required:

 
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of event & project management experience
  • Superb planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and work calmly under pressure
  • Ability to work on multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills and attention to detail
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Tactfully deliver information to clients in sometimes challenging and sensitive situations
  • Must be a critical thinker and able to problem-solve in a time-sensitive atmosphere
  • Works diplomatically with a variety of internal and external departments
  • Able to delegate and motivate internal team
  • Use Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite of programs, run teleconference calls, Go-To-Meetings, and online Project Management software (Basecamp)


Preferred:
 
  • Experience in government technology field
  • Supervisory or leadership experience
  • Basic HTML or CMS experience
